CHASEN - BAMBOO MATCHA BROOM 15 G

DESCRIPTION

A traditional broom used during the Japanese tea ceremony to froth matcha tea.
The broom, also called a brush, is made by hand from one piece of a bright variety of bamboo. Precise cuts create flexible whiskers, which in the lower part are gently bent and at the top collected together and finished with a special wooden handle.
Chasen is best suited with a bowl for preparing and drinking matcha. The vertical walls of the bowl and the wide bottom allow you to easily and conveniently "shake" matcha in water and quickly get a layer of surface foam. It should be remembered that the temperature of the water in which matcha is prepared should not exceed 80 ° C.

Tips for whipping matcha

It is best to start churning matcha slowly, gently scrubbing the bottom of the bowl with your mustache, it allows you to mix the whole matcha well with water. Then we move the chasen higher, closer to the surface and start more vigorous movements resembling the letter W or M for about 10-20 seconds.
It is worth remembering to work with the wrist alone during mixing, not with the whole hand, which gets tired faster. A thin sheepskin coat of foam should quickly appear on the surface. The perfect foaming of tea is precisely possible thanks to the large number of flexible bamboo mustaches. The more whiskers in the chasen, the easier it is to get the so-called "jasper mousse", i.e. the perfect layer of foam.
For best results, the broom should be soaked in hot water before use and rinsed after use. Chasen shrinks when drying, it becomes brittle and susceptible to damage, so it is worth storing it on a special naoshi stand.

RECOMMENDED STORAGE CONDITIONS

Storing the chasen on a special stand helps to ensure its longer life and maintain its proper shape. However, do not enclose the chasen in a plastic packaging or in any other sealed container, it may cause the unintentional appearance of mold on the bamboo handle.
